Well, well, hmm, well

Not bad at all really. I think that this needs a bit more polish. A bit more sounds, music at the intro, level selector or saving progress. Was not happy to start back at level 1. Otherwise, fun game!

I'd be playing this all day...

But I have other things to do! The game feels like it's going to take forever to play. But not in a boring or tasteless way either! If the speed of the ship was improved a little bit at the start I wouldn't feel like I was a space faring snail. I'm not trying to be mean, it's just a little too slow. Even the original asteroids wasn't that slow, come on. Still, a couple points:
1: Autobreak should be given one ability point automatically since it's mentioned that you have that ability in the manual. I was confused at it not turning on.
2: The ship accelerates too slowly! It really doesn't feel fast enough. As with most of these games, I expected some sort of backward thrust with s, didn't happen.
3: What does this purple power up do again? How bout that one? Hm, I'm not sure, let me take a look at the stat menu, again.

All gripes aside, really cool take on the Asteroids theme. I'd score higher if it weren't for those couple things. Cool over all.

Thanks for your input! 1 did cross my mind as I was testing, but I think I was just so used to it from playing the game so much that it didn't bother me as much as I'm sure it will bother others. 2 I honestly didn't anticipate anyone having a problem with, but I can see why it would make sense to start out with the autobrake unlocked.

I increased the starting acceleration a bit. I also made it so you automatically have the autobrake unlocked, though it doesn't help much until you get it to level 1.

As for 3, the only solution I can think of is to have letters on the powerups to remind the players what they do. I haven't fixed this yet, but I will do it sometime tonight or tomorrow.

Cute game

Really crummy collision engine. There are times when I know I'm a bad player. There are also times when I think, 'this engines broken'. I said that to myself several times here. If your gonna change the keys on someone, make sure you have a solid engine. Also, if you don't have a solid engine, no pixel perfect jumps at all are reccommended. Jump around really pissed me off as it's collision detection broke on me. Though really well done on Bad Weather. I liked that one. Otherwise, clean up the engine a bit more, and this could be seriously fun. Also, one more thing: MAKE THOSE DARN BODIES dissapear faster! Being timed gives the player a sense of urgency. You can't be urgent sitting around waiting for a body to dissipate while you try to decide on a jump so your feet don't brush the spikes and you end up going 'I passed that! Stupid body!' Anyways, that's all from me.

mmamarmarc responds:

yeah, the collision engine is maybe not perfect, but for my first flash game I think it is good enough. For the next game I will make a better one. And thanks, I find Bad weather also the best level I built for this game. Also i shall do something with the advice about the bodies

thanks for your review :) !

Well

Should be finished. Love the music.

FlamingCow responds:

Yeah, totally agree. Who knows, maybe in a few years I might flat out remake it ten times better. As of now, I just lost the will to do anything with this. But it has no use on my harddrive, so might as well share it. If someone had five minutes of fun, then that's a win in my book. About the music - yep, possibly my favorite Portal song. Cycerin is a genius. Actually, he probably deserves half or more credit for this, since this song helped inspire so much of it.

Okay.

Really buggy movement, and hard to control. Otherwise, a lot of neat ideas here not seen in a typical sidecroller. Brick placing didn't feel fast enough for me.

Great!

Apparently, I like bullet hell shooters. So I decided to give this one a shot. The unique attribute of procedural generation was the hook for me. I don't know if I was expecting something different, but still. It's a solid bullet hell. The bosses could've used a bit more variation, and a bit more feedback on how their health is doing, but those are nitpicks. Otherwise, a solid, fun shooter!

Finally...

After listening to the album for a while now, I finally decided to try and play/beat this game. Not as hard as some others I've played. Still, clever use of rules nonetheless. Awesome indeed sirs.

And I want to make one of these?

I got stuck at the 4 digit locker. I'll mosey around to see if there's anything else I missed. Maybe it's just me, but the solutions don't seem clear enough. Are you supposed to open the umbrellas a special way as well? I'm not sure.

Let's help this game along a little

Very excellent! I played for an hour or so I think just to get all the gold crowns. Could maybe use a bit on the achievement side. One thing that irritated me was that the difficulty climbed a bit too steep in the last couple levels. And once you figure it out, your like, oh duh. Good game!

Not bad, but...

Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, but, I was unaware that the white things were enemies and not power shots. Still, nice though.
